Allison is a tax and estate planning lawyer in the tax group at KSW with over 15 years of experience. She delivers effective legal solutions in the areas of tax, estate and business planning. Her plans cater to needs shared by higher net worth individuals, families, professional corporations, owner-managed businesses and charitable organizations.

Allison customizes estate plans for individuals and families based on specific circumstances, including:

  • divisions of property on a separation or divorce,
  • passing down family-owned commercial and residential properties on death,
  • transfers of corporate business interests held at death, and
  • management of family assets through trusts.

In each case, Allison works to produce outcomes that remove, reduce or anticipate complexity.

Allison assists business owners and professionals, whether new or experienced, to plan forward. At KSW, Allison and the corporate services team work together to excel in supporting corporate affairs by managing corporate records and shareholder relations. Allison is additionally sought out for advice as an external legal advisor on daily business operations and management activities.

Allison spent 8 years practicing as a tax lawyer at a national law firm and international accounting firms based in Calgary. She completed advanced training in tax law, including the In-depth tax course (Parts 1, 2 and 3) administered by CPA Canada and Tax Law for Lawyers presented by the Tax Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association. In addition, she previously assisted in writing and developing coursework for the In-depth international tax course administered by CPA Canada. Since relocating to British Columbia, she has built up a thorough understanding of tax laws that influence the corporate and personal tax affairs of business owners in the private sector.

Allison grew up in Calgary and graduated from the University of Alberta. She lives in Surrey and values spending time with friends and family.
